Goodbye, 2023. You’ve been an interesting one. I keep forgetting to do these weekly roundups and now December is nearly over and I don’t have a lot of time so I’ll just drop the links in here and wish you a good night.
We began the month with the release of Broken Katana, the third book in the Howl series. I’ve been very pleased to see how well this has sold this month.
More on the books side of things, I also released Libertatia; or, The Onion King, the fourth episode of The Shattered Stars. Here’s the Cover Reveal and here’s an excerpt. We haven’t really found the audience for this series, which is too bad, but we’re going to keep going, even if no one out there is reading because it’s just too damn fun to write. This one is still my favorite, even nearly a year after writing it.
On that front, today is the last day my ebooks are on sale for $0.99 for both my ongoing series.
And to go along with that, I’m opening up my worlds to collaborations or for you to write your own stories within them. So if you’ve ever read one of my books and thought I’d like to write that, well, now’s your chance!
I also interviewed
here a few weeks ago about his substack.Did a bit of textual analysis of The Trapeze Swinger by Iron & Wine, which is something I actually like doing and may do again, especially because people seemed to like this as well.
I couldn’t help but talk briefly about Henry Kissinger’s death and especially the reaction to his death.
As a capstone to the year, I wrote a novella lengthed review of Wong Kar Wai’s In the Mood for Love & 2046. Perhaps my favorite thing I’ve written this year, and sort of my final statement on a certain kind of writing that I’ve done here. I hope you check it out.
I' have a much longer post coming on Tuesday that addresses 2023 and 2024, so keep an eye out for that.
For now, have a great New Year’s Eve and I’ll see you next year.
Consider buying my books while they’re on sale!
See you later, space cowboy.
Looking forward to 2024!
Just curious - when you say the Kar Wai essay is a final statement, does that mean you won't be writing in that style anymore?
Here is to more greatness in 2024!
