Big plans, as always, for what to do next. There are two polls below. One is about some new possibilities and the other is more about direction of the newsletter. I hope you vote in both.
All of these ideas will take some time to get up and running and will require me learning how to do specific things on substack that I haven’t bothered to dig into before.
The novel I would serialize is something that is not finished. I’d very much be writing it as you read along. Think of it as a mix of Pokémon and Avatar: The Last Airbender, but for adults. The goal would be to send you about 5,000 words per week, which would range between probably one and three chapters at a time.
For those not interested in this, I would make it a separate aspect to this newsletter that you’d need to opt-in to. So I won’t be cluttering your email with a novel you’ve no interest in.
The audio I’m thinking of would, yes, technically be a podcast. But the podcast would just be me narrating essays that would also be available as text. I have some fun ideas for this, but it’d take me some amount of time to get this up and running. Maybe I’d also start interviewing people. Who knows!
The video component would be the same as the audio component…but with video. These would take me longer to do and so would come much less frequently but would hopefully be very worthwhile for you, the viewer. Again, this will take me quite a bit of time to sort out.
Some examples of what I’m talking about:
I’m also interested in going through a series in the same way that I went through A Song of Ice and Fire or House of the Dragon. If you’d like to see something like this again, let me know. Feel free to suggest something as well.
The polls will run for a few days. I’ll have more to say once there are results.
Thanks for participating!
And if you have any other suggestions, feel free to leave a comment.
I wanted to vote for books, too. Maybe if I ever get a PS5 I'd like video games but I didn't vote for them yet.
THANK YOU for the Prince video. Wow! I have tears in my eyes. Yes, I was singing along.
I’m looking forward to another year of great posts!
