For Father’s Day. Wrote this for my son’s fourth birthday. Remains one of my favorite pieces and has become one of the most popular here. Captures almost everything I have to say about being a father, at least so far.

What I’m reading
Finished reading Cities of the Plain about an hour before I heard Cormac McCarthy died.
’s brief piece about McCarthy’s early career is worth giving a look.Cities of the Plain is far from a favorite of mine, but the least of McCarthy is still quite good. I’d check it out, but only if you really liked All the Pretty Horses and The Crossing.
About halfway through Altered Carbon by Richard K Morgan and No Country for Old Men. Good stuff.
What Else?
Kyle Muntz and I are busy writing the second season of The Shattered Stars, which is keeping me quite busy. Episode Two of Season Two was wrapped up this week and we’re diving into Episode Three shortly. But, in between, I’m writing a cyberpunk novella for an upcoming project to be announced with the Broken River gang.
I’m also figuring out how to do a audio type things. So expect a podcast unrelated to everything here coming soonishly.
My brain feels like pancake batter but it’s Father’s Day so I’m probably having an all right time with my wife and kids and cats.
I hope you are too.

Incredible job integrating (and amplifying) the work of some of the authors on Substack. I'm inspired to do something similar!
