I have heard from Washington insiders that Veep is the most realistic picture of "how the sausage is made" in Washington; it was quite a departure from the idealized West Wing and similar other works.
Not to mention: the cast is amazing.

In some ways it makes the sad state of politics easier to deal with.
Rather than hostile or malicious, most politicians and their teams are just incompetent.
...and so cynical that nobody thinks the system will ever change.
