I agree with you on a lot of this. I think season two would have been my favorite of the lot, too, if THE PLOT hadn't shown up. I'm just a lot less tolerant of THE PLOT. At least that plot. "Oh, it's a computer who wants to destroy all life for…some reason." Ho hum. if it had been some other plot, I might have liked it more.
Season 4, the first thing that struck me that made me feel positively gleeful was just how much the people on the bridge enjoyed each other's company.
Haven't seen Season 4 yet. Not sure I actually will at all. But, yeah, the cast's chemistry has blossomed over time and make the show work even when it shouldn't.
And, man, Season 2--such a waste! Computers trying to kill all life is just a whole lot of yawn. Maybe somewhere people love this kind of thing?
