I think about that all the time. I could start churning out politics and culture war pieces at the drop of a hat, and it would definitely be more popular than what I'm doing.
But, I don't wanna. I completely support your decision to avoid the easy dopamine rush of writing about that stuff.
I do think one of the most positive life choices I made was deleting all of my social media six years ago. Initially, I assumed that this would lead me to go back to my blog, which had accumulated hundreds of posts between 2010 and 2016 (RIP former blog), but when I lost the habit of sharing my every thought in public, it's like that impulse and muscle withered.
Which was a very good thing for me. And so now that I've returned to blogging, I like to think I've shrugged off a lot of those bad habits and impulses. Especially the need to always have an immediate reaction to everything happening everywhere in the world.
I read half your book the night it arrived on my kindle and the other half the next morning. It is wonderful--poetic, gripping, moving, and thought-provoking, especially about how we ought to set up a society. I’m looking forward to your serialized novel! Politics I can get anywhere, but your fiction is special.

I’m sorry I missed your happy birthday but substack didn’t give me a freaking notification. I’m going to have to check the app. So: happy birthday!!
Thanks!
I still have no idea why a few subscribers never get emails from me but it's definitely an oddity.

Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it!
Just thought of something too! I'd very much appreciate if you'd write a review on amazon when you get a chance.
I don’t usually do that, but I’ll make an exception for you!
You're the best!
Done! Five stars!
