The recent Witching Hour adaptation didn’t hit right, perhaps because it was trying to be too literal. The book is slow but sprawling and that’s ok - it’s not ok for a tv show! This adaptation of Interview sounds perfect though. Rice always know how to push boundaries but Claudia was real out there.

I'm hoping they go for long enough to cover a fair amount of Rice's books. I only read a few of them but loved the larger universe and how crazy it gets. Was kind of my first experience to a long extended series. Haven't checked the new series but will do soon. As always, a great post.

Yeah, the series is pretty fascinating! I stopped after Queen of the Damned, but I've been thinking about hopping back in.

MAN I love this adaptation, and I loved the original film for its campy, zany, sexiness. So glad you enjoyed it too!

I know people who said they simply couldn’t watch it because it strayed too far from the book. And I get it, I 100% get that something can live so perfectly alive in your mind that you don’t want to change a thing about the way you love it. But I think this is the best love story TO the story that could possibly exist - it feels like getting two of the thing I like!

I think I enjoy clean breaks from the narrative more than the sort of "almosts" I remember from most adaptations I've seen over the years. I saw the first episode or 2 of this during a free trial, and enjoyed them! I'll probably watch 'em all once they're free again (just SO much other great stuff to enjoy already).

Yes, always the trouble!

During September and October, HBO Max had this one their streaming service, which is how I watched it. I doubt I'll ever get the AMC app, so I hope this moves over to one of the already existing ones.

I remember reading the first few books of the Vampire Chronicles when I was 14/15 and Twilight coming out shortly after. It was such a contrast in vampire types, I always wondered if I would've fangirled on Twilight had I not been influenced by Rice's depictions first.
