Well well well, it’s been quote some time since I just did a normal kind of update for all you fine people so I thought I’d do something quick for all of you fine, gentle folk.
I’ve been a busy boy in the background. This year has not turned out how I expected.
I alluded to some of it back in March.
Since the bad news isn’t really mine to share, I will share the good news.
My wife and I will be having a daughter this autumn. This was planned for so it’s not really the source of all my changing plans, though the timing caused me to drop out of some conventions. But that’s life, baby!
But, yes, as you’ve no doubt noticed, I haven’t been releasing a novel every month like I intended to, but that’s mostly because of big changes happening in other people’s lives, which have been quite draining on me. They’re of course much worse for those this is happening directly to, but it’s honestly been the most stressful thing I’ve dealt with in years. Maybe the most stressful thing, and it’s not even happening directly to me!
I’ve also been rethinking what I want to do with novels and with books as objects. More on this before the end of the years.
Anyway, I haven’t been doing weekly updates like I used to. I do plan on doing this again, but it’s just another drain on my time that got deprioritized.
Some updates on recent events for me.
I was on the Agitator podcast this week talking about my appendectomy in Korea for some reason. You can listen to it here or watch it here.
Of course, if you’d like to read about my appendectomy, you can read this essay about Final Fantasy VI. If you’re asking what Final Fantasy VI has to do with my appendectomy, then you must be new here!
Also found out recently that I had a flash fiction piece that I wrote in college come out last year. Not sure how I missed it.
Here, I finished my series on the adaptations of Shogun. Coming soon is a review of the novel. I haven’t started yet and it big so give me a bit of time.
My slow read of Gene Wolfe’s Book of the New Sun goes strong, so come join us.
My son has become obsessed with chess and I wasn’t very interested or good at chess, so I started playing. I’ll have more to say about this soon, but if you want to play against me, challenge me on chess.com. Here’s my profile.
Anyway, life marches on and so must we.
Have a good weekend and listen to this Minnesota supergroup from the late 2000s cover Sade.
Wow, dude, no wonder I haven't seen anything from you in my TL for a while. You are literally everywhere all at once. It's gonna take me a week to go thru all the links and info. Congrats and glad you are alive!
Congratulations on the new baby. Get some sleep while you can. 😀
