Thank you so much for posting this excerpt from my newest book, but also for the kind words about me being funny and kind. That's funny and kind of you to say.
Refreshing to see more writing inspired by video-games being written, shared, published. These are wonderful excerpts. Edith Finch is a wild little game.
I initially started my substack primarily to write about games, but I play slowly and so ended up outpacing myself and writing about other things. But I love good games writing!
Nice! I'll dig in once I'm back. It's interesting how your Substack evolved to include writing on other subject matters like movies. When I started mine, I didn't know what niche to pick, but I decided to just write about anything I'm passionate about. I do have a lot of stuff I wrote about video games in these 5 months lol.
Yeah, I just kind of write about everything, haha, which isn't ideal from a marketing standpoint! I know I'd have a multiple of my current subscribers if I wrote about only politics, and I'd certainly have more if I was only writing about music or movies or games, but I'd also probably get bored of that.
And so I just kind of let my whims pull me along! Thankfully, my audience has mostly followed my detours.
That is true. The growth is slower too. But multifaceted beings are attracted by multifaceted thoughts, so you do you! And that's good people have been receptive of that.
“What Remains of Edith Finch, released in 2017, is responsible for introducing me to a place and to people that have changed me, changed me in the way near-death experiences change a person.”
This is the best reminder I’ve seen that I really need to play this game. It’s been sitting on my Steam Deck for a year.
It’s short right, like a few hours? I may play it this weekend.

But I've still managed to write a decent amount about games over the last two years: https://radicaledward.substack.com/i/102087828/videogames

Great work Caleb.
