This piece is such a beautiful exploration of the expressive power of the human voice. I first heard Bon Iver back in 2010, on the original cast recording of Hadestown. Bon Iver played Orpheus, and I thought his voice was magical. Still is.

I admit, my first reaction to this song when I heard it was not the same - I found the distortion very distracting - and never really thought about the song much. But this has made me appreciate it in a new way. I enjoy understanding why people have the emotional responses to music that they do.
