Vacation is good. Been out here almost a week. Heading home tomorrow with two kids under four, which a friend described to me as The Dark Souls of parenting. I think it’s the first real vacation we’ve had since Covid.
Was going to write about something inflammatory, but, you know what—who cares?
Finishing Black Gypsies by Grant Wamack. I’d drop a link but i’m on my phone so just Google it. Real good stuff. Also making my way through Jin Yong's Legend of the Condor Heroes, which is everything I dreamt of. Will have more to say later. The Hole by Hiroko Oyamada is both disappointing and fascinating. Han Kang's The White Book is something I would’ve loved when I was twenty but don’t care for now. Jose Saramago's Cain is the Borat of literature, which I mean in a good yet tedious way. Kim Young-ha's I Have the Right to Destroy Myself is a short story collection posing as a novel, which is rarely my favorite thing, but the stories are pretty good.
Joji has a new album coming out and I keep meaning to post this essay I wrote a year ago about him, but, alas. Been in the middle of a few videogames that I’ll be talking about soon.
Oh, and then I need to make some announcements, but I guess i’ll wait another week for that.
That’s a lovely photo of your boy!
Would you believe me if I said the typos in the email you received were on purpose? Some of them are fixed if you're reading this on the site or the app. Maybe.
