This post is mostly about my fiction, so if you’re one of the many who don’t care about such things, carry on!
Had big plans for this year, but, unfortunately, life has turned in strange directions. Not only for me, but for my various collaborators. So while I planned on releasing a novel every month, cover art became a bottleneck, but so did a few other aspects of putting a book out into the world.
I knew this was a possibility and so I built that into my original plans. Maybe I’d release three books in the same month or whathaveyou. But even that’s looking unlikely.
However, you will still be getting at least seven books from me this year.
So far this year, I’ve released the 10th Anniversary Edition of Noir: A Love Story and House of Ghosts, the Fifth Episode of The Shattered Stars (paperback still coming).
The other Anniversary books just need cover art and a final edit, so while I planned for one of those to already be in your hands, life’s just like that sometimes.
Expect at least one more novel in the Howl series. I was hoping to have this one out this month, but here we are.
Various life events have arisen in this ambitious year to make most of my big plans somewhat unachievable, sadly. People must deal with their own health and loved ones, and that’s more important than my books. And, as I’ve referenced, someone very close to me has been facing a crisis for several weeks, which has taken most of my attention and effort.
And so there will be more soon but it’ll take time.
Which also gives me time to rededicate more and more attention here as I shift away from a deluge of fiction. And I have several projects in the works, some of which have been delayed. But things to expect soon:
The Wheel of Time: Season Two
More William Gibson podcasts
Bloodborne
Bo Burnham (this one’s becoming rather unwieldy, sizewise
Berserk: The Golden Age Arc
Survivor (the TV show)
A review of Action Button’s Review of Tokimeki Memorial (another sizeable essay)
Vampires
John Wick
Dune
And so on. I’m also tinkering around with some gamemaking type things which may eventually develop into real projects.
So, yes, this wasn’t how I thought this year would go, but we adapt and we carry on and we take care of the people we can.
